Happy New Year!

I have been meaning to start writing here, but every time I start, my words seem insignificant. So, what better time to start new traditions than on the last day of the year? I have approximately 15 minutes of 2009 left, and frankly, I'm glad to see her go. This has not been a very good year, and I'm looking forward to 2010 being a better year mentally, physically, and financially.

This year saw some new lows for me: I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, my teenage nephew came to live with us due to family problems, a bulging disc in my back caused me to be out of work for five months (I am still out of work), the transmission in my car blew up. Out of the ashes rises the phoenix: I have my diabetes (mostly) under control, we have full custody of our nephew, we got the transmission replaced 10 days before Christmas, and my back is on the mend.

So what are my hopes for the new year? To have a successful vegetable and herb garden. To go back to work (hopefully sooner than later). To help my 9 year old autistic son successfully transition from elementary to middle school. That I may learn to relax a little more. To spend plenty of time with my loved ones. I hope for world peace, the healing of our planet, and guidance for our world leaders. May this coming year, this baby new year 2010, bring great joy, peace, love, and happiness to all of us.
